| Pinemoor West Hole by Hole Review from Rosalind Barnes May 2006 |
|
Hole 1
This hole is a straight par 4 with a lake on the left for the first half and a fairly narrow fairway with pine trees on either side leading to the elevated green which has pine trees at the back with a sloping runoff down into the trees and bunkers at the front.
Hole 2
This is a par 5 with a very slight dogleg to the right. You tee off through a funnel of trees and again the green is surrounded by trees. There is a water hazard on the right within easy range from teeing off and a bunker on the left. There is another water hazard on the left as you approach the green, which played very rough and slow.
Hole 3
This is a straight par 3 hole with a water hazard on the right at the tee and bunkers on the left. There are bunkers round the green, particularly on the right with some undergrowth and trees on the left hand side.
Hole 4
Tee off between the pine trees, with a very slight dogleg to the left on this par 4 hole. There are bunkers in front of the green and a water hazard to the right. The green is elevated with trees at the back and water on three sides.
Hole 5
This is a tricky little par 3 hole with a water hazard down virtually the whole of the right hand side, trees down the left hand side and behind the green and bunkers in front of the green.
Hole 6
This hole is a par 4 with an elevated tee with some trees around it. The fairway is relatively narrow with large trees down either side and some deep bunkers just before the green.
Hole 7
This is a short par 3 hole with the tee set between the trees, opening out onto the fairway with a bunker to the left of the elevated green and trees beyond it. There is also a water hazard to the left of the green. Again, this green was not high quality.
Hole 8
This is a par 5 and the tees are set in a narrow alleyway of pine trees opening out onto a wide fairway with a water hazard to the right. As you approach the green there are bunkers on the left and houses beyond. The water to the right houses the large alligator!
Hole 9
The ninth is a par 4 hole. Drive from an elevated tee down a narrow fairway between pine trees with houses on the left to the green which has two bunkers on the right and a road behind it.
Hole 10
This is a very short par 4 hole with a water hazard on the right, as it runs parallel to Hole 1. The fairway narrows between pine trees as you approach the green which is slightly elevated with bunkers left and right and trees beyond. The bunkers around the green are not particularly close, however and should not be a problem if your drive is on course.
Hole 11
This is another par 4 with a very narrow exit from a raised tee, currently undergoing some renovation. This is a dogleg to the right with bunkers and a tree lined fairway. The green is elevated and has bunkers to either side and has several young trees at the back of it. You can either aim for the post with a short shot from the tee and then play right towards the hole or you can chance a longer shot from the tee played to the right, making a shorter shot to the green.
Hole 12
A par 4 with out of bounds down the right with houses just beyond and quite a wide water trap about half way down on the left hand side which narrows the fairway quite a lot. The green is level with a bunker to the left and trees to the right.
Hole 13
This is a very short straightforward par 3 hole with a wide fairway with a raised section to the back of the green with bunkers to the left and right.
Hole 14
Another short par 3 hole with a level tee, fairway and green with bunkers to the left and trees beyond.
Hole 15
A par 5 hole with a long, wide fairway bordered by pine trees and houses and large bunkers left and right. The fairway narrows to the elevated green with more elevation on the right hand side and trees beyond. The whole green is backed by trees.
Hole 16
A par 5 hole with a level tee, driving out between a narrow alleyway of trees to a widening fairway bordered by trees all the way to the green and then narrowing as you approach the green between two water hazards. Out of bounds on the left, close to houses and there is a water hazard as you approach the green on the left.
Hole 17
A short par 3 hole with a wide fairway with a water hazard on the left and trees and houses on the right. The overrun on the green is into trees and bushes.
Hole 18
This is a par 4 hole with a tee off between pine and palm trees to a widening fairway. There are houses to the right and left near the elevated green with bunkers on the right and a road beyond, with a few trees around the green.
