Riverwood Golf Club is a Southwest Florida Golf Course that outclasses the competition! This Golf Digest 4 1/2 star Southwest Florida Golf Course is truly unique as a result of its design features, natural beauty and varying challenges. The front nine of this Gene Bates designed, par 72 championship golf course flows through heavily wooded terrain, rich in stands of natural pine. The back nine meanders amid salt marsh and wetlands. Surrounded by lush landscaping and native vegetation, each hole is a challenge, taking advantage of its natural setting. But par is achievable so that the result of a day's play is satisfaction and enjoyment. The Golf Learning Center at Riverwood also sets Riverwood Golf Club apart from other Southwest Florida golf courses. Here you can play while you learn - and learn while you play. There is an area specifically designed for practicing approach, chip, and sand wedge shots, as well as a one and a half acre putting green. These separate areas enable golfers to practice the use of every club in their bag and enhance all aspects of their game.

Riverwood Feedback from Rosalind Barnes

As a medium handicapper playing golf in Florida, I thoroughly enjoyed playing this lovely course which seems to have something for everyone. There is plenty of water, lots of trees planted in awkward places and sand mounds built around the greens creating steep runoffs into trouble in the shape of trees or lakes.

It is very well organised indeed, with a starter at the first hole, course marshals to ensure steady play and adherence to the rules of golf and plenty of toilets, drinking water stops with cooler boxes of ice and cups which fit neatly into the holders in your golf cart. It was a very hot day when I played, so all of this was very welcome.

The Clubhouse is very pleasant indeed with a good choice of food and some of the nicest surroundings I experienced at any golf club in Florida. The staff were very pleasant and the service wonderful. This is a rather more expensive course than those on Rotonda, but well worth the extra for a beautifully kept course and all the little “extras” provided here.
